Ingredients 

  • ¼ cup of butter or margarine 
  • 1 teaspoon of minced garlic 
  • 1 tablespoon of onion flakes 
  • 1/3 cup of flour 
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes 
  • ½ cup of green chili 
  • ½ teaspoon of salt 
  • ½ teaspoon of cilantro 
  • Water 

Steps 

  1. First, heat the saucepan to heat the butter or saucepan. 
  2. Add garlic and onion, and cook until the onion gets re-hydrated. 
  3. Add the flour and stir to form a “roux.” 
  4. Next, insert the tomatoes, green chili, salt and cilantro. 
  5. Pour water into the mixture enough to make a nicely thick gravy. 
  6. Finally, simmer for the next 30 minutes. 
  7. Afterwards, the vegetarian green chili is now ready to be served!
