1. How Avocado Helps Diabetics

The results of the research by scientists from the University of Guelph, in Canada, were published in the journal Molecular Nutrition & Food Research and showing great premises.

Type 2 diabetes is a condition in which the body cannot process glucose or sugar in the blood for energy, while in the healthy body, this process occurs automatically with the help of the hormone insulin. 

However, in people with diabetes, the body does not produce enough of the hormone insulin, or the hormone insulin cannot work effectively and as a result, sugar builds up in the blood, and diabetes occurs.

Various studies have been conducted to study how diabetes occurs, because it is a very complex disease, involving both genetic and lifestyle factors and that’s why, by understanding the course of diabetes, especially type 2, it is hoped that ways to prevent it will be found.

In a recent study, found a fat molecule in avocado that was found to prevent diabetes which is AvoB or avocatin B. In early studies on mice, researchers fed mice with a high-fat diet for 8 weeks so that the mice were obese and insulin resistant and some of the mice were given the AvoB diet for 5 weeks.

At the end of week 13, the mice that had ingested AvoB gained weight more slowly than the other mice with their insulin sensitivity also increasing. This means that their bodies can process sugar properly so that diabetes does not occur.

The researchers then concluded that AvoB or the fat component of avocado prevents diabetes by fighting the incomplete oxidation of fatty acids in the muscles and pancreas with the ultimate result is increased glucose metabolism, and ultimately increased insulin sensitivity.

That’s why, it’s a great alternative for diabetes, other than trying other chemical methods or consuming other healthy meals including benefits of guinea corn.

2. Prevents LDL Oxidation

Although it is only preliminary research that avocados prevent diabetes, there is nothing wrong with consuming this fatty fruit, even every day since this fruit will not give you any side effects.

There are many benefits of eating avocado and previously, researchers at Penn State also found that avocados were high in MUFAs (monounsaturated fatty acids).

For those of you who are still confused with this alien word, MUFAs are a great source of antioxidants and polyphenols which can help to lower the “bad” LDL cholesterol, the main cause of heart disease. In the study, as many as 45 men and women, aged 21-70 years, were asked to diet by including avocado in their daily menu for 5 weeks.

All participants were overweight or obese and had high LDL levels and finally the study found that including one avocado per day as part of a healthy diet lowered levels of oxidized LDL.

This LDL is highly susceptible to oxidation, which can lead to an increased risk of plaque buildup on the walls of arteries.This phenomenon also correlates with the number of small dense LDL particles which are easier to enter the arteries and accumulate into plaque. So, consuming avocado can help prevent this plaque formation process, making heart diseases risk lowered or even disappeared completely.

3. Keeps Blood Sugar Stable

The next benefit of avocado is its ability to stabilize blood sugar levels to help fight insulin resistance and this was proven by a study revealed that someone who ate half an avocado with lunch reported feeling full longer, and the desire to eat less afterward, just like the benefits of avocado leaves.

A study revealed that the unsaturated fats in avocados can reduce the risk of heart disease better than simply lowering fat intake and by adopting a diet that prioritizes monounsaturated fats, it is effective in preventing metabolic syndrome, a risk factor that increases the likelihood of heart problems and stroke.

4. Prevents Cancer and Relieves Osteoarthritis

A study reveals that the benefits of avocado are believed to help prevent cancer by reducing chemotherapy side effects on lymphocytes while inhibiting the growth of prostate cancer cells with its natural extracts.

However, keep in mind that this study was conducted in isolated cells and does not necessarily prove what might happen to humans. But then, the fruit is also useful for treating other harmful health problems.

For example, a study shows that a combination of avocado extract and soybean oil called Avocado Soybean Unsaponifiables (ASU) can reduce osteoarthritis, reducing the pain and generally have a positive impact on those with osteoarthritis.
